Red Flags to Avoid When Searching for Flight Dispatcher School

cockpitRed Flags to Avoid When Searching for Flight Dispatcher School

The most crucial part of becoming an aircraft dispatcher will occur before you set foot in an airport ready for your first day on the job. In fact, it takes place even before you get your aircraft dispatcher license. If you are serious about becoming an aircraft dispatcher, then it is imperative you know what to look for when searching for flight dispatcher school.

The aircraft dispatcher program and/or courses you choose for your flight dispatcher training will affect your entire flight dispatching career. Everything from the airport that employs you down to the salary that you receive will largely depend on which aeronautics school you’ve attended.

At Sheffield School of Aeronautics, we are the world’s oldest and most reputable aircraft dispatcher school, so we’re here to share some red flags that you should watch out for when researching and choosing an aircraft dispatcher school.

Red Flag #1: The flight dispatcher instructors are difficult to reach.

When searching for flight dispatcher schools, the first red flag is how competent the instructors are. Aircraft dispatcher training is so precise and hands-on. It’s an instant red flag if the instructors at the aeronautics school are difficult to contact. Chances are, you won’t receive the proper training that you will need in order to succeed in your aircraft dispatching career if you instructors mostly MIA. When finding a flight dispatcher school, make sure you physically speak to an instructor, not just a representative. If you are unable to get in contact with an aircraft dispatching instructor now, then it probably won’t be easy to do so when you are training.

Red Flag #2: Instruments and materials are out-of-date.

When you are looking for an aircraft dispatching school, make it a point to tour each aeronautics school. While touring, take note of all the instruments, textbooks, and the facility in general. You will want to pick an aircraft dispatcher program where everything is updated, clean, and organized. You can also ask your tour guide about what is new in aircraft dispatching. Although not all equipment may be brand-new, the aeronautics school of your choice should be properly maintained and familiar with the latest technology in the field.

Red Flag #3: The aircraft school requires upfront payment for courses.

A big red flag when searching for flight dispatcher school is when the school says they require the full payment of the courses up front, before they begin your flight dispatcher training. There is major distinction between a large, established aeronautics schools and a fly-by-night operation running out of the back of a hangar. If the school is an FAA approved knowledge testing center and reputable aircraft dispatcher school, like us, there’s no risk associated with paying up front. There have been schools that have closed up shop in the middle of a student’s training. Think twice before you hand over your hard-earned money to just any flight dispatching school.

Choosing an aircraft dispatcher school can be overwhelming, but you want to make sure you do your research so that you make the right choice. At Sheffield School of Aeronautics, we provide real-world training with real-world tools. We hold ourselves to the the highest standards and are respected industry wide.
