Aviation and Aeronautics in Indiana Explodes
When you think of Indiana, you may not think of aviation, aeronautics, and cutting-edge technology, but maybe you should! Indiana’s South Bend area has roots in aviation dating back more than 100 years. As of late, its aviation sector is merging with its budding aerospace sector. This is great news for its local economy, and great news for those in the aviation and aerospace fields. More jobs in more diverse fields is always a positive sign for graduates of Sheffield School of Aeronautics.
Indiana is home to tons of aviation businesses, like Lockheed Martin and GE Aviation. But it is also home to plenty of newer aerospace companies, like Rolls-Royce, Honeywell, Raytheon and Praxair. These industries have plenty of overlap, so these companies will do lots of business together. As of late, GE Aviation announced it would build a $100 million jet engine assembly in Indiana. Alcoa has also made big moves within the state. It recently opened the largest aluminum-lithium plant in the world, and it plans to build a $100 million plant to produce nickel-based jet engine parts.
All of this expansion and growth is great for the aircraft dispatcher industry. More jobs in our general field is always a good thing, and growth in Indiana means more flights (which means more flight plans!).
