Aviation Industry Celebrates 40 Years of Safety Thanks to ASRS
Sheffield School of Aeronautics is happy to announce that the Aviation Safety Reporting System (ASRS) is celebrating 40 years of safety in aviation this month! The United States aviation safety record is at the highest level because of programs like ASRS, and because safety is such an integral part of flight dispatcher jobs, ASRS allows flight dispatchers to make a difference.
The ASRS system was developed by NASA as a means to safely report issues in the aviation industry. Pilots, flight dispatchers, and other important airline personnel are encouraged to submit safety concerns to the ASRS database. All submissions are kept confidential, but the information is used to address concerns and distribute information regarding those concerns to the community. Pilot and flight dispatcher jobs are never jeopardized for coming forward.
Since its creation, the ASRS has received 1.4 million reports from pilots, flight dispatchers, mechanics, air traffic controllers, and other aviation personnel. Those reports have had a direct impact on the safety of the industry as a whole. Safety is one of the most important concerns in aviation, which is why flight dispatcher schools like Sheffield School of Aeronautics and aviation training programs worldwide focus on the issue.
Flight dispatcher jobs are some of the most stable and secure in the world because the aviation industry has always made it easy for the community to voice its opinions in order to make beneficial changes. So here’s to another 40 years of safe reporting and safe skies with ASRS!
