Celebrating Aviation Day with Aviation Themed Cocktails

The countdown for Aviation Day has begun, but are you ready for the August 19th celebration? Get ready to honor aircraft dispatchers, pilots, flight attendants and other employees of aviation, with the nationally acclaimed celebration that began in 1939.

One way that you can kick off the celebration is by making an aviation themed party! There are plenty of DIY airplane décor items that can be made on a small budget to keep your aviation day party cost effective. Kick your party up a notch by integrating aviation themed cocktails.

The Aviation is a signature cocktail that is made of 2 oz. Plymouth gin, 1.5 ounces of lemon juice, 0.5 oz. maraschino liqueur, and a dash of syrup de gomme. Use a mixing glass with ice to combine all of the ingredients, then shake. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with lemon zest.

Another crowd favorite is a Blue Kamikaze. Add 2oz. of vodka, 0.75 oz. of blue curacao, and 0.75 oz. of fresh lime juice to a mixing tin with ice. Shake to chill and mix the flavors together, then strain into a martini glass.

Not much of a vodka drinker? Then the B52 is right for you! This classic drink is made of 1 oz. Kahlua, 1 oz. Baileys Irish Cream, and 1 oz. Grand Marnier. Add all three liquors together in a cocktail shaker, than shake her up. The mixture is perfect for two, oversized shots. Turn on ‘Love Shake’ and drink a B52 while listing to the B52’s on this day honoring those in aviation.
