Aircraft Dispatcher Salaries

Sheffield School for flight dispatchers reports that flight dispatchers with 1-4 years of experience make between $31,000 and $46,000, and aircraft dispatchers with 5 plus years of experience can earn between $40,000 and $92,000 per year. Sheffield also reports that the highest salary for an aircraft dispatcher is $110,000. Flight dispatcher salaries vary depending on the aircraft dispatcher’s experience, size of operation, location, and size of the airport. Starting salaries however, can be as low as $20,000 per year and cap off at $100,000 annually.

According to a report published in 2010 from the US Department of Labor, flight dispatcher jobs are expected to grow at an exponential rate of 12 percent from 2008 to 2018. Due to air travel becoming safer and cheaper, as well as being the preferred method of travel, the demand for skilled flight dispatchers is growing exponentially. Many people are traveling more often due to international travel requirements, and consumers can afford to visit family members who live in distant areas. There is also an increase in demand for flight dispatchers to coordinate commercial shipping flights to deliver goods around the world.

Other flight dispatcher benefits include health insurance, life insurance, retirement plans, and travel benefits. You and your immediate family can fly for free or reduced airfare and discounts at major hotels. Another benefit of becoming a flight dispatcher is the ability to fly in the cockpit jump seat anytime, anywhere, if it is available.
