Jobs in the Aviation Industry
Last month, Sheffield School of Aeronautics discussed the increased demand for personnel in the aviation industry. Although the jobs in aviation post focused on the need for more pilots, additional reports say that it is not just pilots who are in high demand; airlines are desperate for cabin crew, flight controllers, and flight dispatchers as well.
Every seven years, Boeing releases a study that they conduct surrounding the amount of jobs in the aviation industry and the demand. According to the most recent study released by Boeing, the forecast is dismal for airlines because almost every job in the aviation industry will be low staffed if the current trend continues. What may be the bright side of the coming aviation personnel surge is that it will be a professional’s job market. Job seekers in the aviation industry will have more of a choice and ultimately the power to negotiate their placement and pay.
Aviation giants like United Airlines, Delta Airlines, American Airlines, and Southwest Airlines have partnered with flight dispatcher schools like Sheffield School of Aeronautics to entice more applicants to train to meet the coming need to fill flight dispatcher jobs.
Boeing predicts that airlines will need 617,00 pilots, 679,000 technicians, and 814,000 cabin crew over the next 20 years. Technicians are job titles that include engineers and flight dispatchers.
It has never been a better time to break into an industry as it is now for anyone who is interested in aviation. Sheffield recommends that those who are on the fence about joining the aviation industry train as a flight dispatcher now, gain experience, and then take advantage of the growing job market in the years to come to figure out a more permanent career placement in aviation.
