“I wanted to tell you I got the job offer from Expressjet, and start next month! I think a couple others from class were hired as well. It just shows the Sheffield reputation when I see graduates from other schools complaining that they can’t get an interview – I wasn’t even back home to Minneapolis […]

Aviation Jobs in Demand
News outlets are buzzing with recent claims that there will be a major pilot shortage in the next three years. What does this mean for aviation jobs in general? Fox News reported that the pilot shortage comes in contrast to the raising wages and airlines pushing to make the position far more lucrative to attract more candidates to pilot training programs.
According to a study conduct by Bloomberg News last week, “If the trend doesn’t change quickly, in just 10 years we’ll be 15,000 pilots short of the number needed to sustain current travel routes”.
Aircraft dispatching schools don’t seem to be slowing down and enrollment is steady. Aviation jobs are some of the more rewarding and most make life long careers out of their work.
Experts are pointing at mandatory retirement ages and the insufficient pool of worthy candidates ready to replace the last generation of pilots. What’s next for the industry is likely a mass recruitment and improved tactics and benefits to lure more potentials into the industry. Aviation jobs tend to be demanding and it’s important to entice the best by offering quality pay and benefits.
Aircraft dispatching schools require just as much passion and commitment as pilot schools, but in less time. Sheffield School of Aeronautics runs a popular 5-week course and though it is intensive, it fully prepares its students for their jobs as an aircraft dispatcher.
