The Difference Between a 2-Week Course & 5-Week Course
At Sheffield School of Aeronautics, we have various aircraft dispatcher courses available for students to work toward their aircraft dispatcher license. For the time being, we are going to focus on our 2-week course and our 5-week course so that you will be able to determine which course is best for you.
2-Week Dispatcher Course
Our 2-week dispatcher course is divided into two sections- online training followed by 2-weeks of intensive residency. Although the residency aircraft dispatcher course length is only 2 weeks, the online training could take 2 to 3 months to complete.
Because of the more accelerated nature of this dispatcher training courses length, students are required to meet certain prerequisites like the FAR Part 65.57 or 65.61. Often the students in this particular course already have some experience in aviation like working for an airline. Although it is only 2 weeks, this course will be like a full-time job with hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you already have knowledge in the field and are unable to attend longer classes, then this 2-week course is probably a good fit for you.
5-Week Dispatcher Course
Our 5-week dispatcher course is our full-time residency course. Unlike the 2-week course, this class is done entirely in person, but like the shorter course, the class will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week.
This dispatcher course length is designed for students who are less experienced and just beginning their career in aviation. Also, the prerequisites for the dispatcher training course length is much more relaxed than the 2-week course. Students are required to be at least 21, proficient in English, and have a high school diploma or equivalent. This class will be a good fit for someone without any experience who is looking to begin a career and is ready for this type of time commitment.
