Aircraft Dispatchers and the FAA Energy Bill

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was recently under scrutiny because of its outdated air traffic control system and wasteful spending. Congress took a look at the FAA and has decided to push forward reforms that will modernize air traffic control and cut that wasteful tax spending while regulating drone usage.

The FAA Regulations bill known as the “Reauthorization Bill” was passed through the Senate with overwhelming support. However, the bill was passed without the policies needed to modernize air traffic control in the United States. It’s no secret that most believe that the air traffic control system in the United States is due for an overhaul. For the past 40 years, the same computer system has controlled all the high altitude traffic in the US. Of course the system is still safe and reliable, but the discussion is about staying ahead of the curve and remaining the best in the business.

One of the new FAA regulations that will really change the game for all airline employees but especially aircraft dispatchers and air traffic controllers is the new NextGen core system technology. The FAA has been working on switch out their current system with the NextGen core for the past 11 years. With current technology, it is impossible to monitor more than a few aircraft each but with the new system, any authorized airline employee can monitor any aircraft in the United States airspace.

Regardless of changes, Sheffield School of Aeronautics provides the best and most up to date training for aircraft dispatchers. Regulations will often change so it’s important to ensure you go to the best and most qualified aircraft dispatching school.
