Flying around the world as a commercial pilot or chartering a private jet are esteemed and desired jobs for many individuals. However, did you know that there is more than just one type of pilot license available? The following provides a brief overview of these licenses and how individuals can earn them.
How to Earn a License
The Federal Aviation Administration, not individual states, hands out pilot licenses. In order to earn any license, individuals must partake in some sort of training. These can range from on location courses to classroom work and different tests performed by other licensed pilots and instructors.
So Many Options
Below you will find a list of the different pilot licenses available. These are listed in no particular order and are all approved by the FAA.
• Commercial and Airline Pilot-This license allows a person to operate a commercial aircraft and to be hired to operate aircraft.
• Student Pilot-This license allows a person to fly an aircraft by them self.
• Recreational Pilot-This license allows a person to fly only locally.
• Sport Pilot-This license allows a person to fly any kind of lightweight sport aircraft.
• Private Pilot-This license allows a person to fly aircraft carrying passengers across short or long distances.
Individuals interested in becoming any of the above mentioned pilots can register for classes at flight schools. It is important to note that some licenses may require re-certification if a person does not fly for many years. However, who would stop flying once they are able operate an aircraft?
