What’s In Your Pilots Bag?

Have you ever wondered what’s inside your pilot’s flight bag? You’ve seen them boarding your plane or walking to the terminals carrying luggage – but what’s inside? Our aeronautics school graduates share firsthand knowledge of the contents inside your pilots bag below.

Tablets or iPad

It’s almost a necessity for pilots to have tablets or iPads in their bag, as they rely on this technology for current weather information updates, charts, and manuals. Most of the charts and manuals pilots need are electronic and held on these devices; however, there are still some old school pilots who have their charts printed on actual paper. In that case, your pilot will have these charts, graphs, manuals, and more inside their bag.

Books

To kill the time during layovers, your pilot will more then likely have a book or two on hand. Whether the reading material is about the new regulations or they’re simply enjoying a fiction novel, pilots love to read and carry different types of reading material in their pilot bag.

Personal Documents

Pilots are required to carry their certificate, license, photo identification, and aviation medical certificates. These are personal documents that a pilot must have in order to board a plane and to fly.

Headset

Of course, a pilot needs to be in contact with their flight dispatcher. At Sheffield School of Aeronautics, our aircraft dispatchers are taught how to properly communicate with pilots through these headsets.

Writing Materials and Note Paper

Your pilot may need to write down important that they’re told. Pens and pencils are a staple in a pilots bag.

Sheffield School of Aeronautics is dedicated to training and teaching individuals who want to be flight dispatchers and those who are seeking a career in aviation. Contact us to learn more about the courses and programs we offer.
