Many courses also offer lessons and training in world geography, meteorology and international weather services, climatology, computer flight planning, and manual flight planning using deviation and historical winds. Students will probably also learn about flight planning in the Arctic, Atlantic, and Pacific. These lessons include training in communication and procedures for possible diversions and emergencies in air and on terminals.

The most common job for those holding this level of certification is a dispatcher for airlines that fly around the world. This entails planning an airplane’s course to helping pilots navigate rough weather and unexpected delays due to maintenance or emergencies.
