Since my graduation, I have been applying to an aircraft dispatcher
position but still I have no job. I
have been thinking of a professional training to perform my studies
and made the companies believe in my capabilities. I saw on your
website that you offer some training to recent graduates and I would
like to have your advice about my case. My resume is attached to
further information about myself. I would really like to be in the
aviation field again but since my experience is old and have some
gaps may be the training will be very helpful.
Thanks in advance for your time.

Aircraft Dispatch Training, I recently attended the school in -----------,
and it was the worst experience of

The only good thing that I had to say about this school is that

urge everyone to stay as far away from this school as they can,
the head instructor is incompetent, the class structure has no rhyme

The thing you should know about ----- ------dispatch program is
that you must complete the program in addition to your bachelors
degree. You cannot just attend the dispatch portion of the curriculum.
I went through their program and feel that the license could have
been attained in a much less expensive and time consuming manner.

The school in ------ used to pass everyone..... everyone. You get
your monies worth there! If a good ole boy from Tennessee can pass,
then anyone can get a license. I recommend that school if you want
a quick "no frills" certification.
The
carreer is what you make of it, but I will say this, the 3 worst
(as far as work ethic goes) employees I have ever hired came from
the ------ school. The school in --- was continuously
threatened with being shut down because of their
high failure rate. I believe it was once......My real point was
(as was stated several times after my "insensitive" statement) that
your carreer is what you make of it, and no school can motivate
you if you don't want to be motivated. The instructor CAN make the
classes appeal to you, to the point that participating would make
you want to make the $$$$ worth being spent. Sheffield did that
for me (and a few others I know) and IN MY MIND, some of the other
schools didn't do that as evident by the quality of SOME of their
students that I have come in contact with. That's all I will say
and I appologize if I have insulted those that went to others schools.
You all have made this a carreer choice and have worked as hard
as anyone to get to where you are today. I still think Sheffield
is an excellent school though. This Is a Reply to: Msg 790 by -------.

I'd suggest Sheffield for your dispatch school.
I attended there. I have heard from
everyone that I know that it is the most respected school in the
field. It is extremely hard but if you make it thru,
you will have an outstanding grasp on dispatch. M--- ------- messages

--- 7/14/00 10:37 pm I highly recommend Sheffield for getting your
license. I went there last summer to get mine. In addition to being
the oldest and most respected they also cost about the same as any
other school, they offer job placement and free recurrent training
to all of their grads. Its a lot of work but when you get to the
job it'll pay off in dividends. This Is a Reply to: Msg 740 by ----------

I graduated from Sheffield...It can get intense with the amount
of information you will learn. I am a dispatcher for ASA and I really
do love what I do. I do recommend passing the Dispatcher written
(same as the ATP written) before you start taking the class.
You will learn alot from Sheffield, and if you have any aviation
knowledge now, forget it, you will find out just how little you
actually know. I enjoyed it very much. Good Luck!
It is well worth the time, money and effort you put into it.

This is a safety sensitive job, which demands the ability to make

like ----- will let anyone struggle through, then the airline who

The entire Morris family is very well respected in aviation. I received

They do not pump out paper dispatchers

Subject: Dispatcher needs your help
Hi...I am writing to you because I need your help finding a dispatch
job. I am a new graduate (as of may 2002) from XXXXXX XXXXXX and
I currently live in (northeast U.S.) This being a career change
for me, it took me a very long time before I made this decision
to go ahead and take the plunge...for many years I considered attending
your school down in florida, but was never able to work out the
financials of living out of state for 2 months, as it would have
been too much of a financial burden for me. After many years of
putting the idea aside, it came to my attention that XXXXXX XXXXXX
had started offering the course right here in my neck of the woods
at xxx in xx. Since I would be able to live at home while attending
it became an affordable alternative and I decided to give it my
best shot...I did quite well (scoring in the mid-high 90's on all
of my quizes/exams. I passed my FAA computer test with an 83 after
4 weeks, my (school) written final with a 95 on the 6th week, and
passed my FAA oral and obtained my adx license on the 7th week.
I found the instructors at the school to be very knowledgable, but
most weren't the best teachers in my opinion. They were strict and
at times even quite harsh/rude with the students almost alienating
themselves from us...it was a tough 6 weeks, but we all made it
through (with the exception of 1 or 2 who either dropped out or
never had the confidence to take their oral).
As a graduate my biggest problem I have with this school
is that they offer absolutely no post-graduate
support as far as finding a job. They have
no placement assistance at all and after 90 days I have not
had 1 single call or interview for a dispatch related job... before
I signed up, xxx was telling me i'd have a job within weeks...a
couple of months tops! To tell you the truth i'm at the end of my
rope financially and emotionally. I feel like i've thrown out $4,000
and all my efforts were a waste of time....Is there anything at
all you can do to help me?...perhaps letting me have access to your
job postings on the website?....getting me some interviews down
in florida maybe?...at this point I don't have the time or money
to take another course with a different school, but paying for some
sort of placement assiatance might be do-able for me.
Please...i don't know where to turn anymore. I need work. ..Seems
to me that all xxxxx xxxxxx cared about was the $$. Money
is important to a business obviously, I have no problem with that
(afterall that's a big part of the dispatchers job in the first
place...saving the company $$ in fuel and time) but there are also
lives/careers in the equation as well which they don't seem to be
very concerned with.
Please let me know if there's anything I can do before giving up
all hope on this for now...Thanks for taking out the time to read
this.

A friend of "my friend" attended your school (I am not
sure which year) and recommends your course - especially the solid
weather part.
I was satisfied with the XXXXX course overall, but I felt the weather
part was not much compared to your curriculum which I can see in
your broucher. I have not decided yet if I will apply for the one
starting on 20th October.
