Sheffield
School is celebrating its 60th Anniversary next year. The year 2008
marks not only 60 years of "Aviation" training, but over half a century
of specific Dispatcher training. We are proud to be the World's
oldest and most reputable Airline Dispatch school.
Airlines
Welcome to Interview at Sheffield
Tired
of reprogramming your new hires??
We welcome
any airline that would like to interview our graduates to visit us.
You are also welcome to sit in on our lectures to see the depth of instruction
we provide our students. If you're seeking graduates of the highest
caliber look no further; these students have not just seen the basics,
have not just met the FAA minimum required curricula, but have passed
our comprehensive dispatcher course. A course which seriously prepares
a graduate for the real world. It's fun, interesting, and intense.
Sheffield
now incorporates the outstanding Flight Planning system from Universal
Weather. This very powerful, yet easy-to-use engine will be used within
our 6-week and 4-week classes primarily. This marks Sheffield's THIRD
Flight Planning system which students can be exposed to!! Sheffield
School will be the ONLY Aircraft dispatcher school utilizing Universal's
outstanding system! We've already
incorporated B767-300ER exercises into our ETOPS course!
Sheffield
School will be incorporating new Internet-based Computer flight planning
into our Aircraft Dispatcher courses using both Jeppesen and Navtech
programs. Students will be able to use a password at their own computer
work station using our new fast T1 Internet access.
The 3-day
EWINS (Enhanced Weather Information Systems) training course has been
updated with a new CD and presentation to provide our students with
the most current information. The course is an EWINS-qualification
program. After completing the course and receiving a certificate,
the individual will not only be more astute at weather analysis, but
will be in a more favorable position to become EWINS-certified if
their airline deems it necessary for their dispatchers. The course
is open to all Sheffield graduates as well as any individuals who
are interested in increasing their weather forecasting ability through
learning a wealth of meteorological concepts and techniques. The price
for the course is $600 for sheffield graduates ($900 for others),
with the class dates set to begin the day following our scheduled
ETOPS classes. The training provided will emphasize operational forecasting,
with a significant percentage of this course providing hands-on analysis
and forecast practice and evaluation.
This
training program includes all lesson plans, study guides, handouts
for the following curriculum segments: Climatology, Atmospheric
Dynamics, Weather Data Sources, Weather Chart and Atmospheric Model
Analysis, Weather Element Forecasting (Clouds, precipitation type
and intensity, thunderstorms, flight hazards, frontal movement, etc.),
Severe Convective Weather, RADAR and Meteorological Satellite (METSAT)
Analysis, Aviation Meteorology/Flight Forecasting, Weather Chart Analysis
for Surface and Upper Air Forecasting, including Coding and Encoding.
As
many of you know, Sheffield offers free refresher training for as
long as you request it. By this, we mean that you may visit us,
sit in on a class review, flight plan, lecture, etc. for as much
time as you'd like. If our materials change, and they do - constantly,
we'll simply issue you the new handouts, books, etc. at absolutely
no charge during your visit. No other school can match this service
to its graduates. We're also developing a recurrent/review section
within our password-protected web pages to help those who can't
make it down to sunny South Florida.
Sheffield
To Offer Workshops To Non-Sheffield Graduates:
For
a higher tuition fee than Sheffield Graduates, others are now welcome
into our
International
Flight Planning, ETOPS,
and EWINS
courses. We've been contacted numerous times from U.S. and International
airline personnel as well as certificated dispatchers who felt slighted
in their education and now want to make themselves more marketable.
(Some actually enroll in our certification program as well!)
Our
friends at NAVTECH have allowed us to utilize their COMRAD
(Computerized Runway Analysis Delivery) System. This will permit
Sheffield School to easily facilitate the understanding of Performance
factors on takeoff and landing weight limitations. We
incorporated the B747-400 into our International Flight Planning
(AIFP) course since 2004!
Sheffield
recently provided Recurrent Training for Cayman
Airways in December, 2005 and Spirit
Airlines in January, February, March, and April 2002 and
2003.
Sheffield
Trains American Eagle (Executive Airlines)!
- Sheffield recently (March 2005) instructed the first
group of San Juan, P.R.-based students for Aircraft Dispatcher Certification.
The students worked hard and Sheffield is proud to be affiliated with
our friends in San Juan.
Congratulations!

Sheffield
School provided Certification training to Delta Air Lines in Atlanta,
GA. The classes have consistently done an exceptional job! We have
now trained over 100 dispatchers from Delta. Visit the December
2000 class and the 2001
class.
We
are very proud to have trained students at Hickam AFB in Honolulu,

For
the first time, an aircraft dispatcher certification
school will provide EWINS training in house. We are offering a 3-day
EWINS (Enhanced Weather Information Systems) training course. The course
is an EWINS-qualification program. After completing the course and receiving
a certificate, the individual will not only be more astute at weather
analysis, but will be in a more favorable position to become EWINS-certified
if their airline deems it necessary for their dispatchers. The course

a wealth of meteorological concepts and techniques. The price for the
course is $600 for Sheffield graduates ($900 for others), with the class
dates set to begin the day following our scheduled ETOPS classes. We
look forward to making new acquaintances within the airline industry
as well as seeing many of our graduates return. The training provided
will emphasize operational forecasting, with a significant percentage
of this course providing hands-on analysis and forecast practice and
evaluation.
This
training program includes all lesson plans, study guides, handouts,
written tests and competency checks for the following curriculum segments:
Climatology, Atmospheric Dynamics, Weather Data Sources, Weather
Chart and Atmospheric Model Analysis, Weather Element Forecasting (Clouds,
precipitation type and intensity, thunderstorms, flight hazards, frontal
movement, etc.), Severe Convective Weather, RADAR and Meteorological
Satellite (METSAT) Analysis, Aviation Meteorology/Flight Forecasting,
Weather Chart Analysis for Surface and Upper Air Terminal Forecasting,
including Coding and Encoding.
Sheffield
School trained 10 China Southern Air students beginning in December
1998 in an extended version of our 6 week Aircraft Dispatcher course.
They all graduated with honors, which is not easy at our school. Sheffield
is very selective about who we train. China Southern Air personnel are
truly a pleasure to train. Their drive, motivation, and accomplishments
were amazing. Congratulations!!! Sheffield School trained additional
China Southern Air students in October 1999.
Aircraft
Situation Display (ASD) was installed on our computers during summer
(1999) and is being utilized in our Dispatcher classes as a Flight Planning
and Review tool. We are currently upgrading all our workstations with
the latest version of this excellent flight monitoring tool.
LCD (Liquid
Crystal Display) projectors have been on the market for awhile, and
we've always been intrigued, but not fully satisfied with the results.
Now we have found what we've yearned for - outstanding picture quality
during presentations and lectures as well as a stereo sound system coupled
with beautiful video quality for our students. Its our new DLP (Digital
Light Processing) projector. We are thrilled with the results. These
DLPs use a tiny microchip which digitally turns the pixels of light
on and off to produce colors. You have to see this - its a real gem
during class reviews.
