Before you begin the job search for your new career as a flight dispatcher, there are still certain tasks and skills you must acquire before obtaining a job after graduation. The first thing you should understand is the breakdown of what a flight dispatcher does, and what you need in order to begin your job in the aviation industry.

How Do You Become a Flight Dispatcher?

Before graduating, you will need to first enroll yourself in a school that offers great flight dispatching courses. You must be at least 23 years of age to enroll in a course and apply for the FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certification. Reading, writing, and speaking English is a huge importance factor. You must also complete 200 hours of training on specific topics. The final task will be a knowledge test, practical flight planning test, and an oral exam.

However, if you already have your certification you might be wondering what now? Jobs can come from networking opportunities and having an outstanding relationship with your aeronautics school and fellow classmates. LinkedIn is a great place to start looking for jobs, and social media as well can play a big part in helping you reach out to companies and others in the aviation field. Get in contact with fellow classmates and ask for advice. Researching online resources and articles can be an added assistance, as well.
